Principal

Dr. Marlon Gilbert
I have dedicated over 10 years to the field of education, drawing inspiration from my upbringing and the unwavering support of my family. Prior to becoming the Principal of Veterans Memorial Middle School, I served as an Assistant Principal at both the middle and elementary levels, and as a Math and Science Teacher at these levels. Additionally, I have made valuable contributions in extracurricular roles, including Assistant Basketball Coach, Assistant Football Coach, and Head Girls' Basketball Coach. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State University, a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbus State University, an Educational Specialist degree in Leadership from Albany State University, and an Educational Doctorate in Administration from South Carolina State University. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to fostering an environment where both students and educators can thrive. My educational philosophy centers on the belief that improving student outcomes begins with the continuous growth of educators. When committed, evolving educators are placed in front of students, the potential for academic success and personal growth becomes limitless.
