Mission Statement:

The mission of Veterans Memorial Middle School’s Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive developmental school counseling program that is aligned with the ASCA national standards for school counseling programs.  The program will focus on the education of all diverse learners in academic, career, and personal/social development whereby collaborating with parents/guardians, school personnel, and community stakeholders. 

 

Vision Statement:

Veterans Memorial Middle School provides “excellence to all students.”  The vision of the counseling department is for all students to be high school, college and career ready and will acquire the academic, career, and personal/social skills to reach their full educational potential and become change agents in today’s society. 

 

Beliefs:

All School Counselors at Veterans Memorial Middle School believe:

  • All children are unique and should be treated with respect and dignity.
  • The diverse needs of all students must be addressed through the school counseling program.
  • Every student needs appropriate personal and social skills to achieve the benefits from an educational program.
  • A comprehensive, developmental school counseling program is an integral part of the educational program. 
  • A developmentally appropriate school counseling program provides important benefits to individual students by addressing their intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and psychological needs.
